Education
Educational outreach is carried out by the society through presentations to other social service agencies (as part of their professional development programs), schools, and service clubs; through interviews with radio, TV, newspapers, magazines, and other media; through a lending library of published literature available to staff and clients; and through various pamphlet projects. Collection of statistics is a standard procedure in all BCSMSSA operations and they are made available on request. Practicum placements are made available to Masters-level university students. Professional development workshops and seminars are provided to counsellors, psychologists, alcohol and drug counsellors, justice system professionals, and other interested professionals. All proceeds from training material sales support the services of BCSMSSA. From Disclosure to Justice is a broadcast quality video that describes the justice system (where it pertains to male survivors of sexual abuse) and the role of the support worker. The video includes interviews with police, crown counsel, therapists, and with male survivors of sexual abuse.
