Counselling Programs
The British Columbia Society for Male Survivors of Sexual
Abuse fulfills its purposes through the following programs:
- Individual therapy is available for male survivors
of sexual abuse. Sessions are typically on a weekly basis, or as indicated
by the needs of the individual.
Individual therapy may be covered, for those who qualify, by the Crime
Victim Assistance Program, Residential Historical Abuse Program
(RHAP), or other third-party coverage. Others may qualify for therapy
on a sliding scale basis. For more information, contact BCSMSSA's Victim
Services Program.
- Group therapy is available for male survivors
of sexual abuse and runs for in 12 week cycles. Clients may participate
in as many cycles of group as they feel is necessary. Fees for group
therapy are also on a sliding scale for those not covered by some form
of compensation.
- Support groups for partners of male survivors are
offered periodically throughout the year as needed and as space allows.
Referrals for individual work may also be made if requested. Fees are
not likely covered by compensation.
